The Lord takes a Holiday

The Cavan launch of Lord of the Rams took place this past Friday 1 August 2008. Like the Dublin launch, it was a great success, further bolstered with entertaining speeches by Gavin O’Dowd and Keith Geraghty (two of the pivotal characters from the book) and fantastic music by Ted Nevins.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I’m on holidays this week and will therefore update the website with photos from the Cavan launch on Monday/Tuesday of next week. I’ll also post a write-up of the event next week, so make sure you check back for the update.

In the interim, a big thank you to everyone who attended the event, Oliver O’Dwyer for hosting the party, Gavin and Keith for the heart-felt speeches, and all my family who assisted by managing the money and taking the photos on the night.

For those of you who were unable to attend the event but are based in Cavan, you can now purchase the book at Ryefield Stores in Munterconnaught, Easons and Crannog Bookshop in Cavan town, Eurospar and By the Book in Virginia, and O’Reilly’s newsagent in Oldcastle. More extensive national distribution of the book will follow over the coming weeks but you can of course purchase the book online ( or order it via your local bookshop, so you have no excuse for not picking up a copy!

And if you’ve already read the book, I’d love to hear your opinion – what you liked, what you disliked, etc. - I can be contacted via

Time for me to do more fishing (and recharging of body and mind) so, until next week, be good!
