Lord of the Rams: Cavan Book Launch - The Ramor Inn, 1 August 2008

The Cavan launch of Lord of the Rams took place in The Ramor Inn, Ryefield, Virginia, Co. Cavan on 1 August 2008.

The event kicked-off at 7.00pm, with Ronan Smith, author of Lord of the Rams, selling and signing copies of the book (priced at 14.50).

With guests arriving from London, Dublin and all around Ireland, it was a great opportunity for old friends to become reacquainted, and a light-hearted atmosphere was prevalent throughout the night.

As the evening progressed, finger food was served before Gavin O'Dowd, one of the pivotal characters in the book, spoke about his friendship with Ronan, and entertained the audience with his memories from the infamous 'pick' story that features in the book. Keith Geraghty (Goosey) then addressed the guests and spoke about his 25-year friendship with the author - from school and college right up to the present day.

Keith introduced Ronan who thanked everyone for coming, and spoke at length and in jest about the hardship of the 80s and his memories of growing up in Munterconnaught during that time. He also spoke about the book and why he thinks it will appeal to a wide audience beyond Cavan and Ireland.

Following the speeches, music was provided by Ted Nevins who thoroughly entertained the guests and encouraged some of them to partake in some line dancing - with mixed results.

Many thanks to all who attended the launch, Oliver O'Dwyer and all the staff at The Ramor Inn, Gavin O'Dowd and Keith Geraghty for travelling from London to the event and delivering two excellent speeches, Ted Nevins for the music, and Nuala and Vanessa Smith who assumed 'banker' and photographer duties respectively on the night.
